Every wildlife painting begins with DeAnn’s own observations and emotional connections in the field. She travels extensively, camera and sketchbook always in hand, recording the behavior of the animals she encounters in their natural habitat. These moments—whether a bear shielding her cub, an eagle poised to take flight, or a bison moving through morning fog—become the foundation for each piece. Back in the studio, she transforms her source photos and field sketches into narrative paintings that carry the authenticity of the emotion of the moment. Painted in Heritage Multimedia Acrylics on a variety of archival surfaces, her wildlife works honor the spirit of the animals while inviting the viewer to “experience” the encounter.
