Unlike my more textural works, I approached this painting with a direct/softer hand to match the stillness of the scene. I observed this blue heron lingering at the river’s edge, the warm light settling around its form. There was nothing dramatic—no chase, no flight—only the quiet grace of a bird completely at ease in its element. That simplicity drew me in, and I wanted the brushwork itself to echo the calm, leaving the viewer with the same quiet reverence I felt.
