Painted from my own photographs captured in the Black Hills, this piece portrays a bull bison holding his ground in the early light. His presence stopped me—massive, immovable, yet deeply calm. I wanted to capture that quiet dominance, the timeless strength that defines him and the land he inhabits. Through this painting, I hoped to share the awe and reverence I felt in that moment—the sense of sovereignty that belongs only to the wild.
