Spring Passage is about the kind of scene that can easily be passed without notice—a quiet road curving through the trees as spring begins to soften and color the landscape. I was drawn to the way the roadway pulls the eye forward, disappearing into the light while the darker trees hold the edges of the scene. Loose passages of green, gold, violet, and soft pink suggest the changing season without describing every leaf or branch. The painting reflects my fascination with those brief moments when familiar places are transformed by light, atmosphere, and the simple invitation to keep moving down the road.
